Privacy Policy

This page sets out what personal data Cargo141 collects, why we need it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.

Last updated:

⚠️ Must be completed before launch (Gary): operating entity name and registered address. The business registration (BR) number may be left blank — the disclosure duty is the trader's identity and contact details; the BR number is only needed for the payment provider's KYC. Remove this line once filled in.

1. Who holds your data

Your personal data is handled by the Cargo141 operating entity, and we collect and use it in line with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance of Hong Kong:

Data controller (operating entity): [to be filled in] | Business registration (BR): [optional]

2. What we collect

What sending and delivering a parcel needs: the sender’s and the recipient’s name, address, phone or email, and a description of the contents (what it is, how many, and the declared value). Alongside that: your order and tracking numbers, payment status and a transaction reference, your correspondence with us (queries and claims), and the basic technical data the site needs to work (language setting and sign-in state). The declared value is required for customs and is the basis for handling any claim later.

3. Why we use it

To perform our contract with you and provide the service you bought: arranging pickup, shipping and delivery, producing the shipping label, customs clearance, showing you tracking, answering your queries, handling claims and refunds, and meeting our legal and tax obligations (customs and accounting records, for example). We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use it for third-party direct marketing.

4. Who we share it with

To complete the delivery we pass the necessary data to: our delivery network and the courier partners in each country (the recipient’s name, address, phone number and the contents are required for delivery and customs), customs authorities or brokers at the destination, the third-party payment service provider that processes payment, and the technical providers who run the site and our systems. We give them only the minimum needed for that task and require them to use it on our instructions only. We may also have to disclose data where the law or a court requires it.

5. Data leaves Hong Kong

Yes. Your parcel goes overseas, so the recipient’s name, address, phone number and the contents are transferred to the delivery network and customs authorities at the destination. Data protection law in those places may differ from Hong Kong’s.

6. How long we keep it

Only as long as we need it for the purposes above, plus the periods the law, tax and accounting rules require (transaction and customs records, for example). After that we delete or anonymise it.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, and only colleagues who need it for their work can access it. That said, no transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise zero risk.

8. Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, or (where the law allows) delete the personal data we hold about you, and you can ask us to stop using it for particular purposes. Use the contact page to make a request and we will verify who you are before acting on it.

9. Cookies and browser storage

We use essential cookies and browser local storage to remember your language choice and whether you are signed in — the site cannot work without them. If your browser blocks them, some features (signing in, for example) will not work.

10. Changes to this policy

When our practices change, we update this page and the “last updated” date. Continuing to use our service after that means you accept the updated policy.
